Notes! - Learn To Read Music App Reviews

14 Customer Reviews:

I downloaded this for my son who is studying piano. It is really helping him to get better at sight reading. It’s a lot more fun that the flash cards he was trying to use before! Very user friendly, fun for kids, multi-level - and you can switch between bass and treble. Definitely worth the money.

Simple, Easy to use.

Very simple, easy to use. But no scores, just try to guess notes again and again.

It is a fun app and MIDI support is great - it’s so much better to play notes on a real keyboard rather than on some onscreen emulator, seriously - no comparision. Just this one feature makes it the best on the market. Having said that this app has bugs - for example if you accidentally press dumper pedal it will simply hang and crash. Also, it’s not really the best looking app around. Also, it would be nice if it supported sharps and flats. But most of all.. some sort of a reporting would be nice - for example an average time of me finding a proper note - just to keep track of the progress I make.

I bought this app because it was advertised as being able to connect with your MIDI-capable keyboard. Unfortunately, it doesn’t connect. If it did, it would be a great way to learn the notes, but without that function it is quite limited. I’m hoping the developer finds a way to fix that so I can begin using it.

My 7 1/2 year old daughter is trying to become more proficient in recognizing the notes on the scale and on the piano. its great to have a game to substitute hand-held flash cards. Would love to see the next update to include a game that would time how long it took the player to recognize each note on the treble clef scale, and then time them on the bass clef separately, transitioning from note to note instantly rather than taking the time to show the note move. All in all a great value and practical app.

After not playing the piano in more than two decades. I can actually use this app to learn how to read music again. Great and simple; exactly what I was searching for years.

Amazing

Simple, but very effective. I definitely recomend this if you are a beginer learning to read music.

Ive been playing guitar and keyboard for over 20 years, but Ive never mastered sightreading. Ive been using paper flashcards to train my treble and bass clef reading skills, but this app is much more handy. It also has the added bonus of playing the tone when I choose the right answer to reenforce absolute pitch. Im getting better at telling a note by sound alone. I have yet to see any notes above the high F in treble clef. I need work on sighting ledger line notes. Id love this to be added. I also agree with the suggestion for a timer mode. Especially if it tracks your best times. Thanks for a great little app!

Hi It has helped me learn the basic notes. I wish it had a few more features like teaching the sharps and the flats, but for just learning the notes it is good.

I am recently retired and wanted a quick and simple tool to test myself while I take a break from other computer work. Just started learning the piano.

This is a fun simple to use and effective way to learn to read music. I have used other apps which worked effectively but were not as simple and easy to use. I would recommend this for any one young or old who wants to quickly learn the basic notation.

Easy to use

Nice inexpecsive app. Simple, fun, easy to use.

It’s good for memorization, but i wish it would have things like goals, or songs to learn, something to motivate you to keep going because it does get tedius after a while. Also, it would be awesome if there was a way to incorporate the mac keyboard into it so it wasn’t all just clicking! But this app does get the job done if you’re just looking to strictly memorize notes.

crashes

It crashes pretty frequently. but other than that, it is basic and does the job.

This app will not work on my Mac OS 11.6.6 - Big Sur. It's out of date. Unfortunate that the developer doesn't upgrade it; I liked it. RIP

Basic but just what I needed

This app is old and needs to be updated but it it still works with a few bugs and a few crashes. I needed an app to help me learn the notes on the bass cleff which is what this app was designed to do. My midi keyboard worked fine with the app which makes the app even more useful. At the time of this reveiew the app cost $4. Considering it has not been updated in five years, it is still worth $4 if all you need is to leaarn the notes.

Very, Very Basic

The graphics are done well, but the program is appropriate for only someone very young or a very new beginner. I am sorry that the writeup did not make that clear. I wasted only a few minutes and only a few dollars, but wish I had known what to expect.
